Garden teachers from around the island and across the state will gather at The Mala‘ai Culinary Garden of the Waimea Middle for the annual Summer School Garden Conference. Staff from the Center for Ecoliteracy in Berkeley, California, will share their practical, hands-on school garden curriculum, "Big Ideas," with our garden teachers. alternativehawaii.com. Suzi Bond directs the cast of 38 and produces the show with set designer/fly captain Steve Peyton, scenic artist Don Lawrence and costumer Margie Lee.The title role is being played by company choreographer, Debbie Swartz and musical director Pedro Ka‘awaloa, is Captain Hook Conductor Armando Mendoza will lead a live orchestra of 20 through songs such as: "I've Got a Crow," "I Won't Grow Up," "Never Never Land" and "I'm Flying". alternativehawaii.com. OBON FESTIVAL DANCES
Date: June through August
Place: Buddhist Temples throughout the islands
The Obon tradition was brought to Hawaii by Japanese immigrants and evolved into a social and
cultural event, as well as a religious custom designed to honor ancestors through an evening
of dance, music and merry-making. Special services usually start at 7:00 p.m. followed by a
festival with bon (folk) dance at 8:00 p.m. Held at different temples on different dates. Check

FOURTH OF JULY FREE FAMILY CELEBRATION

The Biggest free Family Event on the Kona coast on July 4!. This alcohol, drug and smoke free

VOLCANO FOURTH OF JULY PARADE & CELEBRATION

See the parade at 9 a.m. with the Hawaii County Band, floats, antique cars, fire engines, bicycles,
horses, and animals in costumes! Parade begins at the Volcano Post Office and winds it's way
for one half mile along Old Volcano Road to Cooper Community Center. Then stay for the music,
