MARATHON 2012 READINESS SERIES - 21K Date: Sunday, November 18th, 5:30am, 2012 Place: Starts at Kapiolani Park by the Tennis courts, Oahu Contact: email The run begins at Kapiolani Park by the Tennis courts and heads towards Waikiki. Take a right up Monsarrat, another right on Paki and head out over Diamond Head towards Kahala. A left at triangle park shadows the marathon course up Diamond Head road, a right on 18th followed by a right on Kilauea brings you to Kalanianaole Highway where you head out to Wailupe Circle before turning around and heading back to the park via a left on Kealaolu, a right on Kahala ave and back to the park finishing at the Honolulu Marathon finish line. |

FARMERS MARKET ROYAL HAWAIIAN CENTER TUESDAYS ON THE ROOFTOP Date: Every Tuesday, 3:30pm - 7:00pm, 2012 Place: "On the Rooftop" - Level 4 - Building A, Royal Hawaiian Center, 2201 Kalakaua Avenue, Honolulu, Oahu Contact: Lei ‘Ohu Guest Services, (808) 922-2299 Perfect for the “locavore” foodie in the heart of Waikīkī, Royal Hawaiian Center will launch its new farmers market, showcasing twenty Hawaii vendors with locally grown produce, ‘ono (delicious) dishes, freshly cut flowers, specialty food gift items, and vendor demonstrations. Enjoy an assortment of locally made delicacies and beverages such as Pipikaula ‘O Kahalu‘u beef jerky, Malie Kai chocolate made from Hawaiian cacao grown on O‘ahu’s North Shore, Nalo Mele “just from the hive” honey, Pacifikool fresh and all natural island ginger ale, Happy Cakes’ pineapple macadamia nut fruit cake, Big Wave Tomatoes’ grilled pesto pizza, and more! Kahuku Farms, Ho Farms and Khamphout Farms will showcase a variety of fresh produce grown in the country including cherry and grape tomatoes, Japanese cucumbers, farm harvested vanilla beans, seasonal fruits, and taro leaves. |
BANK OF HAWAII FAMILY SUNDAY: LOCAL LIFE Date: Sunday, February 19th, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. (Third Sunday of every month, activities stop at 3 p.m.), 2012 Place: Honolulu Museum of Art, 900 S. Beretania St., Oahu Contact: Lesa Griffith, (808) 532-8712, lgriffith@honolulumuseum.org Since 2004, Bank of Hawaii has made it possible for the Academy to open its doors to the public free of charge on the third Sunday of every month. The day offers a program of art activities, entertainment and film focused on an exhibition or art principle. Bank of Hawaii Family Sundays feature entertainment and activities suitable for families and people of all ages. Explore the Academy’s galleries through art hunts, art activities, demonstrations, film screenings and entertainment. Themes change monthly and tie in with the Academy’s permanent collections and special exhibitions. The Pavilion Cafe turns into a snack bar for Bank of Hawaii Family Sunday. The kid-friendly menu includes grilled all-beef hot dogs, sloppy joes, PB&J sandwiches and a variety of chips. Open noon-3pm. |

ALA MOANA HULA SHOW Date: Daily from 1pm to 1:20pm, Sundays - Keiki (child) Hula Show at 1pm, 2012 Place: Ala Moana Center, 1450 Ala Moana Blvd., Honolulu, Oahu Contact: (808) 955-9517 The Ala Moana Hula Show takes place at Centerstage from 1pm to 1:20pm. On Sundays, enjoy the Ala Moana Center Keiki (child) Hula Show at 1pm. The show demonstrates how the tradition of hula is being perpetuated through Hawaii's children. |
