This is the backpackers mecca on the Big Island (see Lonely Planet Guidebook). Run by Aussie, Doug Arnott, this hostel compares to the best in Australia and New Zealand. It has that great ambiance that makes "Down Under" hostels famous. If this isn't enough, they have their famous Hiking Adventures including one to the flowing lava...at night!! See their website for details of their daily adventures. Bunks are always available at $25 per night and tent space (using your tent) is $10 per person per night. They also have 9 luxurious rooms with private bath in two adjacent properties. Shared kitchen facilities and no daily room service, but the price at $75 per night is right.
